Terms of use

You are welcome to use this site to arrange a donation, apply to partner with us, or find out what we accept. Please do not use it to submit false requests, to attempt to access other people’s information, or to disrupt the service for anyone else.

Submitting a request is not a confirmed collection. We confirm collections separately, and we may decline a request — the eligibility result tells you why and what to do instead.

Please be accurate about what you are donating. We plan crew and vehicle capacity from what you tell us, and a load that turns out to be very different can mean a wasted trip for everyone.

Once a donation has been received it belongs to Thrift Good, and we decide how it can do the most good — selling it, giving it directly to someone who needs it, or recycling it. We cannot promise a specific item will go to a specific place, and we cannot return an item once it has been processed.

Anything hazardous, illegal, recalled, counterfeit, contaminated, or on our not-accepted list. Please also make sure anything you give us is safe and legally yours to give. The full list is here.

If you book a collection, you are giving our crew permission to access the agreed collection point at the agreed time. Please make sure the route is safe and clear. Our crew may decline to lift something if doing so would not be safe.

We provide a dated record of what we received. We do not place a value on donated goods — our donation and receipt policy explains why. Nothing on this site is tax advice.

We are still setting up, and service areas, drop-off locations and collection schedules will change. We do not guarantee that a service available today will be available tomorrow, though we will always tell you when something changes that affects a request you have made.
