Short version: we collect what a donation needs, we use it to run the donation, and we do not sell it.
What we collect
Only what a donation actually needs:
- Your name, email address and phone number, so we can arrange and confirm a collection.
- The address we are collecting from, and any access notes you give us.
- What you are donating — categories, quantities and condition.
- Photographs, only when you choose to add them.
- Basic usage events about how the site is used, held under a rotating anonymous identifier.
We do not ask for, and do not want, anything else.
Why we collect it
To decide whether we can collect from you, to actually collect, to give you a record of what you donated, and to understand where donations come from so we can plan routes. Nothing here is collected for advertising.
Who sees it
Our own staff and volunteers, and only the parts their role needs. A driver sees the stops on their route. A sorter sees categories and conditions and no contact details at all. Access is granted by role, not by seniority, and every view of donor information is logged.
We do not sell your details, and we do not share them with anyone for their own marketing.
Analytics
We use our own first-party analytics, stored in our own database. There is no third-party advertising tag on this site. Events never carry your name, email address, phone number or street address — that is enforced in code rather than by policy.
How long we keep it
Donation records are kept while they are operationally useful and for as long as our accounting obligations require. Analytics events are kept in aggregate. If you ask us to delete your personal details we will, except where a record has to be retained for accounts.
Getting a copy, or getting it deleted
Email us at hello@thriftgood.org from the address you gave us, or send us a message. Tell us what you want and we will do it.
Children
This site is not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe we have, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change how we handle your information in a way that matters, we will say so here rather than quietly editing the page.
