Four ways to give

What actually happens to what you give

No vague promises. This is the real path, including the part where something cannot be reused.

    You give what you no longer need

    Clothes, furniture, books, kitchen things. Clean, dry, and safe to use again.

  2. 02

    We collect it and check it

    Every donation is sorted by category, graded by condition, and checked for safety.

  3. 03

    Each item finds its best next use

    Some things sell best on a shelf. Some sell best online. Some go straight to a person who needs them.

  4. 04

    What is left over gets recycled

    Worn-out fabric goes to textile recyclers rather than landfill, where it typically becomes insulation and industrial cloth.

  5. 05

    The value becomes funding

    What your things are worth, minus what it cost to collect and sell them, is what reaches the work.

How we decide where an item goes

A few minutes of prep changes what your donation is worth

A wet bag can ruin everything packed with it. An unpaired shoe cannot be sold. A laptop nobody can unlock has to be scrapped, and disposing of what we cannot use costs money that would otherwise fund the work. None of that is your fault — it is just not obvious, so we say it plainly.

  1. 1Wash it if you can, and make sure it is completely dry.
  2. 2Pair shoes together. Keep sets and hardware with their piece.
  3. 3Empty every pocket, drawer and bag.
  4. 4Factory reset electronics and sign out of your accounts.
  5. 5Keep it out of the rain — wet goods usually cannot be used.

We take 19 kinds of things. We refuse 3.

Not because we are fussy. Mattresses, car seats, cribs and large appliances are unsafe to resell or need handling we do not have. Where we say no, we say why and where to take it instead.

Our impact, when we have some

We have not collected our first donation yet, so we have no numbers to show you. When we do, this is where they go — goods collected, goods reused, waste diverted, and the money that reached the work. Measured from our own ledger, not estimated.

We also will not put a dollar value on what you gave. That is yours to determine, and worth asking a tax professional about.
